Day 1: Hanoi to Phu Yen – Kickstart Your Vietnam Motorbike Adventure

Begin your thrilling Vietnam motorbike tour by escaping the hustle of Hanoi on scenic backroads and light dirt tracks. We cruise past the Dong Quang Bridge and ride alongside the peaceful Da River, surrounded by a sea of lush paddy fields on the way to Thanh Son town.

After lunch in Thanh Son, we’ll visit a picturesque tea plantation – perfect for stunning photos and a peaceful break. Continuing our journey, we follow National Road 32 through vibrant rice paddies, then detour onto National Road 37, winding through Thu Cuc and over the scenic Con Pass before reaching Phu Yen. If you’re up for more action, optional off-road trails in the afternoon will test your skills.
We spend the night in a comfortable hotel in Phu Yen – a quiet mountain town ideal for resting up after a great first day.

Day 2: Phu Yen to Mu Cang Chai – Conquer Khau Pha Pass

Start your second day with a choice: opt for challenging off-road tracks through remote Hmong villages or cruise on scenic paved roads. We tackle the historic Lung Lo Pass – a strategic site during the First Indochina War and a hidden gem on any Vietnam motorbike route.
After lunch in Nghia Lo, we ride through the iconic Tu Le Valley, renowned for its premium sticky rice and the famous Vietnamese green rice delicacy “cốm.” If you’re lucky to be here in early autumn, you might get to witness locals making fresh “cốm” – a rare and authentic cultural moment.

From Tu Le, it’s time to climb the legendary Khau Pha Pass – one of the top 4 most breathtaking mountain passes in Northern Vietnam. Spanning 30 km of thrilling curves and panoramic views at 1,500 meters above sea level, this ride is a dream for adventure motorcyclists.

We arrive in Mu Cang Chai, a must-visit destination known for its magnificent terraced rice fields and rich ethnic culture. Overnight in a cozy local homestay.

Day 3: Mu Cang Chai to Sapa

We kick off the day with some backroad exploration and real off-road challenges through remote mountains and ethnic Hmong villages. This route offers a glimpse into the daily lives of local people, shaped by rugged terrain and tough weather.

After lunch in Than Uyen, we journey past tea plantations and rolling rice fields before ascending O Quy Ho Pass – one of the longest and most scenic mountain passes in Vietnam. With mist rising and cooler air setting in, we enter the misty haven of Sapa.

Located at 1,600 meters altitude, Sapa is known for its cool climate, majestic landscapes, and diverse tribal cultures including Hmong, Dao, Tay, and others. It’s a larger town with restaurants, bars, and shops – a good chance to unwind. We spend the night in a comfortable hotel.

Day 4: Sapa to Lam Thuong

Departing from Sapa, we ride along the winding National Road 4D to Lao Cai city, then detour into hidden Hmong villages. After about 35 km, we stop at a unique riverside café with a view of China across the Nam Thi River.
We continue our journey along scenic backroads, passing through small villages and beautiful countryside before stopping for lunch in Pho Rang.

Sapa to Lam Thuong

After lunch, we follow Provincial Road 160 to Lam Thuong, where we’ll spend the night.

Nestled in a peaceful green valley, Lam Thuong is home to several ethnic minority communities and offers a wonderful glimpse into rural life in Northern Vietnam. Tonight, we’ll stay with a local Tay family, enjoy a home-cooked dinner, and experience a traditional music and dance performance by local women.

Day 5: Lam Thuong back to Hanoi

Leaving Lam Thuong, we head towards Tuyen Quang via Highway 2. From there, we can either continue along the main road to save time or take a scenic backroad following the peaceful Lo River, depending on the group’s pace and road conditions.

We’ll enjoy one last off-road section in the morning before saying goodbye to the mountains and forests of Northern Vietnam. After lunch, we follow the main road back to Hanoi.

As we arrive back in the capital, our adventure comes to an end. We hope you’ll leave with a camera full of photos, a heart full of great memories, and perhaps the desire to return for another ride through Vietnam one day.
